3 Types of Dermal Fillers Used to Provide Younger Looking Skin

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

The small lines and wrinkles women develop as they age may not bother some people, but many others want to do whatever possible to get rid of them. While wrinkles are a natural product of aging, there are ways to reduce their appearance. For women who choose to use dermal fillers to smooth out their skin so wrinkles and fine lines are harder to see, here are some of the types you can choose from.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a non-surgical way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, folds, and lines in the face by helping to restore volume to skin. They are injected at the site of the lines or wrinkles to plump the skin, and depending on the type, they can be used in the lips as well. In time, most fillers are absorbed by the body so they must be reinjected to maintain a younger looking appearance.

There are three types of dermal fillers:

  • temporary,
  • semi-Permanent, and

Temporary Dermal Fillers

Most dermal fillers in Dubai are temporary and will be absorbed by the body. They usually last about six to nine months before additional injections are needed to maintain smooth, youthful-looking skin. Temporary fillers are man-made synthetics, including:

  • hyaluronic acid,
  • collagen, and
  • calcium hydroxylapatite.

Botox, which is a brand name, is one of the most well-known temporary dermal fillers on the market, but it isn’t derived from these synthetic materials. It is made from botulism toxin and, when injected, weakens or paralyses the muscles around fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps plump the skin to smooth the appearance of the skin.

Semi-Permanent Dermal Fillers

Semi-permanent dermal fillers can be used to fill in deep lines, wrinkles, and folds in the face. They are made from some of the same materials as temporary fillers, such as calcium hydroxylapatite, which are formed into microspheres within a gel-like substance. It is also absorbable by the body, but it takes longer, so the treatments can last for about 12 months or so.

Permanent Dermal Fillers

Permanent fillers are not used as much as temporary dermal fillers since the effect they provide can last for as long as 10 years. If a patient doesn’t like the outcome of the filler, they are stuck with it since it is permanent. These fillers are capable of being used in larger areas on the face and are often injected to fill sunken cheeks.

Some of the substances contained in permanent fillers include silicon and poly methyl methacrylate, which is a glassy synthetic resin used to manufacture plexiglass and lucite. These materials cannot be absorbed by the body, which makes them permanent. The main advantage is you don’t have to return for treatments once it has been injected.

If you want to use dermal fillers to regain a youthful appearance, you should visit a licensed dermatologist who has experience in using dermal fillers. If done incorrectly, they can have adverse effects, but when done properly, they can help restore your skin with a fuller, smoother appearance.
