Sugar has a unique relationship with oral health and it triggers dental issues, periodontal disease. People who are exposed to sugar have a greater number of tooth and gum diseases compared to the ones that are less exposed.
Sugar or sucrose triggers the creation of dental plaque. Plaque produces toxins and acids that causes gum inflammation resulting to swollen gums and gum disease.
